HOORAY!!

At long last I’m home, having been discharged from hospital on Friday last week. Well, when I say home, I mean Mary’s home to be 100% accurate. My village lies about 2 miles from Mary’s and, unfortunately, the conditions in the street where I live were deemed too icy for me to try and get there.

There is, however, a silver lining behind every dark cloud. My particular silver lining is this: I’m getting waited on hand and foot. It goes without saying that I’m loving every minute of my situation. In fact, I’m enjoying it so much I’m thinking of playing my temporary disability for as long as I possibly can. I’m sure that I can draw the situation out for as long as I possibly can!

There again, Mary is a typical female, which undoubtedly means she’ll sense the exact second when I’m ready to fend for myself!

The new hip feels great; it’s a totally different scenario to the first one – way back in September last year. There’s no pain, swelling or infection. Total recovery should take about 3-4 weeks.

Bearing in mind my previous track record for attracting infections, I’m under strict instructions to take my daily exercises very gently, carefully and to build up slowly.

The phrase of the moment is: ‘When exercising, always listen to what your body, especially your hip, is telling you.’

I obviously can’t get out the front door because of the icy conditions underfoot, which is a bit frustrating to say the least. It’s even worse when Coy stares at me with his familiar ‘Come one then, what are you waiting for?’ look.

Patience Coy, patience m’boy…
