Today, I have sent the following open letter to the Chief Executive of The Golden Jubilee National Hospital:
Early in September last year I was admitted to the GJNH for a routine hip replacement. Due to complications, I ended up spending various periods in hospital and undergoing 5 operations. This was an extremely difficult time for me with periods of depression, pain, infection and sickness.
During these times I was helped immensely by the professionalism, dedication and good humour of every member of staff I came into contact with. Accordingly, I would like to go on record and thank:
- Mr Deep, Mr Menna and all members of the surgical and operating theatre staff – not just for their surgical excellence through 5 major operations, but also for their genuine care and concern for my wellbeing.
- The nursing & medical staff on Ward 2 East – they all, without exception, impressed me with their professionalism, care, attention & humour. The last was most readily apparent during periods of pain, infection and restrictive barrier nursing.
- The Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists – without their patient guidance and insistence I would not be able to manage as I am able to now.
- Peter and his colleagues – who always had a smile and a word when delivering meals and drinks.
- The cleaning staff – they went about their vital task with cheerfulness, diligence and a readiness to have a wee blether.
- The receptionists, porters, security & catering staff – I can truly say that they all go about their business with cheerfulness, a quick smile and a readiness to assist.
If I have missed anyone then I apologise, but you are also included in my thanks and appreciation.
I would be grateful if you would pass on my thanks and appreciation to all concerned.
Regards,
Gary Miller
Quite simply – Thank you all…
